Because of Love: Sharing Love and Joy in Preschool Classrooms
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”
—Galatians 5:22–23a (NIV)
What a sweet reminder of the blessings we receive from the Holy Spirit! As we continue to dig deeper into the new WMU emphasis: What Joy!, these Bible verses remind us of the gifts we receive and how we should interact with others.
Why do we do what we do in Mission Friends? How did it all begin? Let’s go way back for a minute.
John 3:16 gives us the why, who, how, and what. “For God so loved the world” clearly explains why God sent us His one and only Son, Jesus. Love. From God’s great love for us, Jesus came and loved us so much that He gave His life — the greatest gift we could ever receive. Love plus more love.
Fast forward to now. The love of God and the love of Jesus fill our hearts and our lives to overflowing. Not just love, but also joy — and peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. While none of these attributes are unimportant, look at the order: love. And because of love, joy and the rest follow.
Because of God’s love, we are compelled to share that love, and to share it with great joy. Because of God’s love we can share His love with the preschoolers we lead. Because of God’s love, we can share our joy and joyfully share His love. Can you imagine what will happen as we faithfully share love and joy in our classrooms?
Overflowing love and joy will cover our preschoolers!
Even if we are tired, late, under the weather, unprepared, or running low on patience, we still have the opportunity to share the love and joy of Christ as preschoolers bask and grow toward the Father. Because of love, the love of God will be heard, understood, and shared with those around us.
Because of love, the hope of Jesus will be shared. And that’s what missions is all about. Love. Joy. Jesus.
Pray:
Father God, thank You for Your gift of Jesus. Thank You for loving us and filling us with great joy. Shower us with the fruits of the Spirit, especially as we teach and lead these precious preschoolers you’ve placed in our care. Help them to see You and Your love through us. As we joyfully serve You. Amen.
