Spotlight Update: Michele Newsome and F.A.I.T.H. Riders Ministry
September 17, 2024/
As the Southern Baptist motorcycle group and ministry F.A.I.T.H. Riders continues to grow in impact, an unexpected opportunity for service has opened doors for evangelism.
Lakeland, Florida, home of the original F.A.I.T.H. Riders group, is also the location of a large population of people experiencing homelessness. Several shelters in the community help homeless people along their journey.
One church that has opened its doors to this group on the fringes of society is the congregation Michele Newsome, a founder of F.A.I.T.H. Riders, attends. Members of F.A.I.T.H. Riders offer food before their Sunday School class on Sunday mornings. While many homeless people came for the food, most would leave before class started.
The men and women of Michele’s class began to build relationships with those who would come. Little by little, more began to eat and stay for class. Now many also attend the church service, sitting in the front row with hands raised high, giving praise to the God who has given them an eternal home. These homeless people “are faithful to attend church and bring others on Sunday morning,” said Michele. “They are examples of how Christ can change our lives for good.”
Pray God would continue using F.A.I.T.H. Riders chapters all across the nation to reach people the world considers outcasts.
