This Month’s Spotlight Update: Roy Garza

Roy Garza and his wife, Cassandra, have asked God for 18 years to grow their family. Recently, they learned of an 8-year-old boy who was available for adoption.

“As soon as we saw his picture and read his profile, we knew we were supposed to bring him into our family,” Roy said. “And by God’s grace we brought him home on August 15!”

Roy said their new son is adjusting well and “it feels as if he’s always been a part of our family.”

His church, Pillar Church of Twentynine Palms in Twentynine Palms, California, also is experiencing change and growth.

“Even though our state is not yet allowing churches to gather indoors, we found a building for a really good rate and have been preparing it for when we are able to meet again,” he said.

Like most churches, members of Pillar Church of Twentynine Palms have had to learn how to do church and stay connected virtually due to restrictions related to COVID-19.

“Since the shutdown began in California, we have been doing online services and small groups,” he said. “However, this past week we started in-person small groups again, and, Lord willing, we will begin in-person services soon.”
