Spotlight Update: John Pratt in South Asia

Local South Asian believers were afraid to go to this specific area. They cautioned John Pratt, IMB missionary explorer, about spiritual warfare, strange sicknesses, and other stories. Despite these warnings, John traveled there in search of unengaged, unreached people groups.

You guessed it, he got sick! John came down with dengue fever for three miserable weeks. He asked prayer warriors like you to pray for his health. While recovering, he couldn’t travel but met a man who knew where a lot of the unreached peoples on his research list lived.

After John was cleared by the doctor, this man took him directly to these people, no weeks or months of searching required. On these visits, they shared the gospel in a village where the people heard about Jesus for the first time. One young man now reads his Bible daily and even asks John what Jesus is teaching him.

“When the devil thinks he has won, he is mistaken!” John said. “Your prayers make a difference and prepare the way for missionaries and our national partners.

“God still answers prayers,” he continued. “Thank you for praying for my ministry and so many others as part of [the] Week of Prayer for International Missions.”
