Christian Women’s Leadership Center
Christian Women’s Leadership Center exists to help Christian women discover and develop their leadership gifts and skills.
Our holistic learning experiences will help you serve more effectively, as God calls you in life, the marketplace, and the church.
Christian | We believe Jesus Christ, God’s Son, gave His life as a sacrifice for the salvation of all people of the world, fulfilling God’s plan for the ages as revealed in the Bible, God’s Holy Word. Seeking to reflect God’s character in all we do, we believe we are called to be active participants in God’s kingdom on earth through the various roles and responsibilities entrusted to us. |
Women’s | We recognize and celebrate the giftedness of women and seek to assist them in developing their gifts and skills in serving Christ as they undertake leadership opportunities and responsibilities. |
Leadership | We consider leadership a process of influencing and empower others to accomplish the mission of a group or an organization. The direction and the methods of the leadership process must be consistent with God’s purposes, character, and ways. |
Center | We provide holistic learning experiences, best practices, and support for Christian women in leadership. The center, an initiative of WMU and funded, in part, by a grant from the Eleanor Terry Endowment through the WMU Foundation, is committed to pursuing excellence in lifelong learning opportunities for Christian women. |
Well known for her faith in Christ and the church as well as her investment in Christian women’s leadership, Dr. Eleanor Terry was slated to be the first director of Christian Women’s Leadership Center (CWLC). She was involved in the planning and beginning implementation of CWLC, which began as a joint venture of the Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU®) and Samford University.
Dr. Terry’s earthly life ended on July 20, 1998, of complications resulting from an automobile accident that occurred while she and her husband were attending a meeting of the Baptist World Alliance in Durban, South Africa.
Due to her untimely accident, Dr. Terry was not the first director of CWLC, but her values and goals find life and breath in the core values of Christian Women’s Leadership Center.
The Eleanor Terry Endowment
The Eleanor Terry Endowment for Christian Women’s Leadership supports Christian Women’s Leadership Center (CWLC). When you give to this endowment, you help us empower women to develop their leadership gifts and skills.
CWLC’s online courses available on christianleaderlearning.com are developed to help you improve your leadership skills and gifts.
Each course provides interactive assignments to deepen your learning. Assignments include reading assignments, watching short instructional videos, and completing online reflections. Once you sign up for a course, it is available to you for 30 days and you can complete the assignments at your own pace within that 30 days.
