Missions Journey: Students — Maui

Description

In the coastal town of Lahaina, Maui, where recreational life often overshadows church involvement, Pastor Erik and Danni Naylor have remained steadfast in their mission to build a Christ-centered community through Scripture, prayer, and discipleship.

When the devastating wildfire struck on August 8, 2023, destroying their home and damaging the church, the Naylors responded with unwavering trust in God, drawing strength from His Word and pointing others to His faithfulness.

Like Job’s reaction to loss in Job 1:21, the Naylor family chose to trust God. Despite significant challenges, including finding housing for their large family and navigating post-fire recovery, they have witnessed God’s provision every step of the way.

Lahaina Baptist Church, though temporarily displaced, continued to serve and support the grieving community. It became a beacon of hope and a reflection of Jesus’ love in the midst of loss.

Involve your teenagers in ongoing missions discipleship and empower them to discover their own roles as disciples of Jesus who live on mission. Through each unit of Missions Journey: Students, teens will meet missions personnel serving all around the world, be encouraged to grow in discipleship, and become active agents of gospel change in their own communities.

This fully-digital resource contains plans for four weekly sessions, including links to the missions videos, missions project ideas, supplemental activities, prayer activities, and a leader devotion.

This material is designed for students in grades 7–12. WMU recommends adult leaders preview all lesson and video content before sharing it with their students.
