Lydia Greear works with a team of corporate chaplains through Marketplace Ministries. Commissioned through the North American Mission Board (NAMB), she and her peers engage professionals across northern Florida, seeking gospel conversations while caring for people through some of life’s most challenging experiences.

“I make regular visits to worksites,” Lydia explained. “I am available 24/7 when needs arise.”

Her husband, Asa, serves as an associational mission strategist and helps Lydia by connecting workers with resources through the local associations.

Lydia and other chaplains serve a large workforce, and they value the prayers of believers. “We encourage each other and sometimes join forces to care for employees. It is critical to have my local church and other prayer partners. Knowing people are praying makes it easier to get out the door or handle a crisis situation.”

A typical day takes Lydia to multiple worksites. She spends time in prayer before each visit, lifting up the company and asking God to open hearts to receive the biblical comfort she offers.

“I walk toward the building sometimes greeting employees and having conversations in the parking lot,” Lydia said. “I record any needs that are shared and then enter the building. Sometimes employees greet me as though it has been a long time because they are dealing with things.”

Lydia finds joy in meeting so many new people and building relationships with employees and their families. Everyone can join chaplains like Lydia in their labor of love by praying for corporate chaplains who are building connections to advance God’s kingdom.
