Project idea: Water Bottles

Water bottle in grass

“But whoever drinks of the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life” (John 4:14).

We live in a world full of thirsty people, and Christ called his followers to give them something to drink. With this project, your church can do this in two different ways. By selling or giving away water bottles with Pure Water, Pure Love labels, your church can raise money to provide clean water for people around the world.

Here are two different ideas of what your church can do with water bottles:

Sell Water Bottles

  • Select one or multiple sports or outdoors events such as baseball, softball, or soccer games; a park; golf tournaments (or any tournament); block parties; outdoor shopping areas; and running events. Make sure you ask for permission if needed.
  • Remove the labels off water bottles and replace with PWPL labels (click here for printable labels).
  • Have church members sign up to sell water at different locations. Use this project as an opportunity to share about PWPL and the Living Water of Jesus Christ. Many people who purchase the water may be curious as to why you are doing this. This is a way for your church to show the love of Christ to your community.
  • After collecting donations, come together and share how God used this project to bring water to your community and around the world.

Give Away Water Bottles

  • Decide on a period of time for your church to emphasize PWPL.
  • Remove the labels off water bottles and replace with PWPL labels (click here for printable labels).
  • Have a missions group (such as GAs and RAs) give out the water bottles to church members at church. Also consider giving them out at other community locations. Use this project as an opportunity to share about the worldwide water crisis, PWPL, and the Living Water of Jesus Christ.
  • Ask that the water bottle recipients drink the water and then use the bottle to collect spare change.
  • End the PWPL emphasis period by having all the water bottle recipients return their water bottles and celebrate how God has used their offering to spread His love.
