Where to Find Helping Others Activities for Preschoolers

Preschoolers want to be helpers. Lets give them opportunities to do Helping Others activities so they have experiences in sharing Gods love with others in need. Make Helping Others activities a big part of your Mission Friends by planning these activities on a regular basis.

Where do you find ideas for Helping Others activities? We give you some tips on sources that can help with your plans.

  • Mission Friends Leader: Look for suggestions each month on the Meet the Missionary page. Two suggestions are included each monthone for Threes and Fours, and one for Kindergartners. If you teach a blended age group, you can decide which suggestion will work for your group.

  • Big Enough to Help Others: This book is chock full of ideas for Helping Others activities! Find ideas for preschoolers to help within their family, church, community, and world.

  • Families on Mission page in Mission Friends Leader: Read through the Families on Mission page each quarter to gain ideas that you can use in involving families of your Mission Friends in doing activities to help others.

  • Ministries within your church: What are ways you can involve preschoolers in ministries your church is already doing? Your church may have a feeding or clothing ministry, a nursing home ministry, or a ministry to foster care children. Think of creative ways your preschoolers can take part in these ministries.

  • Ministries in your community: Look within your own community for ways your preschoolers can reach out to others to share Gods love. There may be a childrens home, a community food bank, or a ministry to the homeless.

  • Check with your state WMU for ways to involve preschoolers in ministries within your state Baptist convention. Each state is different, but each has ways to involve preschoolers. Some states provide Christmas backpacks for children in need. Some states have Disaster Relief ministries in which preschoolers can provide blankets or hygiene kits. Some states have international or North American partnership ministries in which you can involve preschoolers in simple ways.

Involve your preschoolers in hands-on ways of making something, doing something, or giving something to others. Begin giving them experiences in doing Helping Others activities as they begin to see the needs of others and know they can do something to help meet those needs. As preschoolers begin to see that they can share Gods love with others, they will be excited to do Helping Others activities.
