A First for Virginia: Welcoming 87 Missionary Kids at the MK Reentry Retreat

For the very first time in Virginia, HerMission (formerly WMU of Virginia) hosted the MK Reentry Retreat for IMB MKs who are transitioning back to life in the United States. This year’s retreat welcomed 87 MKs for Bible study, worshipping, and getting acclimated to American culture in preparation for college, the military, and the workforce.
Hosted at the beautiful CrossRoads Camp & Conference Center, the retreat provided not just a place to rest and reconnect, but a week filled with practical, life-ready training. These sessions covered everything from budgeting, tipping, and taxes to laundry, college life, and car ownership. These young adults learned real-world skills designed to help them navigate life in the US with confidence.

HerMission was blessed to come alongside these young adults in tangible ways. Each participant received towels, sheets, a pillow and blanket, a gift card, a CrossRoads water bottle, and all the snacks and drinks they could enjoy throughout the week.
Volunteers from around the state provided the MKs with transportation to and from regional airports as they entered the country and set off to their American destinations.

All of this was made possible by the generous hearts of people across the country who chose to be on mission for these MKs. Your support created a safe landing place for them, offering not just physical comforts but the encouragement to begin this new chapter with strength and hope.
As these young adults step into their next season, we are praying for them to thrive — in their studies, in their communities, and in their walk with Christ. The MK Reentry Retreat team is truly first-class in their mission, and we are deeply grateful for the opportunity to host such an impactful and life-shaping event here in Virginia.
