Spotlight Update: David and Sara Gaskins in Utah

David and Sara Gaskins serve God at Mosaic Church in Provo, Utah, a place historically known as a church-planting graveyard. With their three children, the couple moved to Utah to help plant the church in 2020, and David is on staff as pastor-elder of gathering.

Serving in the most unchurched city, state, and region in the United States, the David and Sara remain grounded in their ministry by maintaining a family focus on God’s Word, particularly Psalm 42:11. Knowing beyond doubt that God continuously meets with them through joy and sorrow enables the family to boldly share their faith with others needing a relationship with Jesus.

Surrounded by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), the Gaskins family has learned most people display only external religiosity in the LDS faith. While aggressively affirming LDS beliefs, most lack deep devotion to the religion.

“When I meet someone in the city, instead of asking myself, ‘Is this person a Latter-day Saint?’ I ask myself, ‘How devout of a Latter-day Saint is this person?’” David explained. And, in a region devoid of the Bible, he and Sara are able to share biblical truths that open minds and hearts to the gospel. Worship gatherings see 100–130 people, with former LDS men and women placing their faith in Christ.

The couple invites believers to pray with them as family ministries create inroads to reach LDS families. David and Sara, along with the ministers serving at Mosaic Church, hope to experience a multitude of joy-filled baptisms in the years to come.
