What is Children's Missions Day?
WMU launched Children’s Missions Day in 2008 to move children in grades 1–6 out of their churches and into their communities to do missions. The goal is for children’s groups to create projects that meet needs in their own communities.
Children’s Missions Day (CMD) has been going strong ever since, with people in communities across the United States hearing about and experiencing the love of Jesus because children’s groups are going beyond simply learning about missions to actively participating in missions.
Why Participate in Children’s Missions Day?
Children’s Missions Day 2025
Theme: Go!
Scripture: “Now you will tell everyone about what you have seen and heard.” —Acts 22:15 (NIrV)
What Can Your Children’s Group or Family Do?
Everyone has a story to tell. We can all be a witness about what Jesus has done in our lives!
Here are some project ideas:
- Children who are believers can tell a new friend their testimony at a game night hosted by your church.
- Provide a meal for first responders. Make a place mat for each one that shares why you have hope in Jesus.
- Host a water fun day at a local apartment complex. Bring ice pops and a craft so children can take home something to remind them how much Jesus loves them.
- Take a care basket to the waiting room at your local children’s hospital. Include individually-wrapped snacks and candies, and bottles of water. Make encouragement cards with verses that offer comfort and cheer and Jesus!
Whatever you decide to do and whomever you decide to serve, don’t forget to let people know God loves them. That’s why He sent Jesus!
