Children's <br>Missions Day

Children's
Missions Day

What is Children's Missions Day?

WMU launched Children’s Missions Day in 2008 to move children in grades 1–6 out of their churches and into their communities to do missions. The goal is for children’s groups to create projects that meet needs in their own communities.

Children’s Missions Day (CMD) has been going strong ever since, with people in communities across the United States hearing about and experiencing the love of Jesus because children’s groups are going beyond simply learning about missions to actively participating in missions.

Why Participate in Children’s Missions Day?

Children’s Missions Day is motivational!

Children’s Missions Day is a great way to get the children in your church motivated and engaged in mission action in their own community. They are joining thousands of other children across North America to minister to people in their own community with the love of Jesus.

Imagine the impact the church of Jesus Christ could have in North America if children everywhere lead their entire church family to minister in their communities!

Children’s Missions Day is easy!

Children’s Missions Day is easy to implement. All the tools you need for planning and promotion are in a CMD leader guide. The guide includes project ideas, learning activities, and promotional tools for your CMD event.

Children’s Missions Day works!

Through Children’s Missions Day, God has used children to make a real difference in their communities.

We encourage churches to research the needs in their community and find ways children can meet those specific needs. We anticipate that many more lives will be impacted as children reach out in their communities with the love of Jesus.

Children’s Missions Day 2025

Theme: Go!

Scripture: “Now you will tell everyone about what you have seen and heard.” —Acts 22:15 (NIrV)

What Can Your Children’s Group or Family Do?
Everyone has a story to tell. We can all be a witness about what Jesus has done in our lives!

Here are some project ideas:

  • Children who are believers can tell a new friend their testimony at a game night hosted by your church.
  • Provide a meal for first responders. Make a place mat for each one that shares why you have hope in Jesus.
  • Host a water fun day at a local apartment complex. Bring ice pops and a craft so children can take home something to remind them how much Jesus loves them.
  • Take a care basket to the waiting room at your local children’s hospital. Include individually-wrapped snacks and candies, and bottles of water. Make encouragement cards with verses that offer comfort and cheer and Jesus!

Whatever you decide to do and whomever you decide to serve, don’t forget to let people know God loves them. That’s why He sent Jesus!
