Missionary Spotlight Update: One More Child

Jerry Haag swarmed by children in Uganda

“More than 10 years ago, my wife, Christi, and I began to pray this simple, yet challenging, prayer: ‘God, give us the world for children,’” said Jerry Haag, president/chief executive officer of Florida Baptist Children’s Homes (FBCH) and One More Child (the global arm of FBCH).

How can that be done? Only by God’s answer to prayer and His disciples’ willingness to be generous with their time and money. The FBCH and One More Child 2018 annual report tells the story:

  • 25,168,728 dollars spent on children and families
  • 7,400,000 meals served
  • 1,080,354 meals raised through One More Child Celebration Ball
  • 809,125 diapers donated
  • 364,288 household items given to children and families
  • 249,044 children and individuals helped
  • 95,279 volunteer hours provided
  • 8,467 children sponsored around the world
  • 1,437 children cared for in foster care
  • 849 people participated in global mission trips
  • 13 nations served
  • 1 more child reached

Haag is grateful to the multitude of people who have committed to “meeting urgent needs and providing lasting hope to more vulnerable children.”

God opened new doors of opportunity, he said, and “people, churches, businesses and influential leaders walked faithfully through those doors with us doing what they love most: helping those who need it most.”

FBCH and One More Child are featured in the January 2020 Missions Mosaic Missionary Spotlight article.
