What Joy to Love Preschoolers!

I clearly remember the evening Emmalee and I worked together to prepare a Greek salad — complete with tomatoes, red onions, kalamata olives, cucumbers, feta cheese, and balsamic dressing. Our Mission Friends were learning about missionaries in Greece and food has a way of connecting preschoolers to whichever missions area we studied.

Other preschoolers helped, but Emmalee was glued to my side for the entire process. Surprisingly, she tasted everything in that salad with great joy and satisfaction. The enjoyment on her face reminded me of the joy I had in leading Mission Friends as we learned together about missionaries around the world.

What a joy is has been to be a part of Mission Friends and the lives of so many preschoolers and families! But before that joy comes love. God loved us so much that He sent His one and only Son, Jesus. Because of God’s love, we are filled with His love. In return, His love overflows from us and allows us to pour out His love upon those around us. First Thessalonians 2:8 shares “Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of our God but our lives as well” (NIV).

Love. Delight. Share.

We are compelled by His love to share the gospel and our lives with great delight.

That night with Emmalee reminded me of the joy I have in serving the Lord, and the calling I have to share not just the gospel, missionaries, and the Bible, but also to share my life.

Preschool leaders, we know that to teach preschoolers is to share our lives with them. What a sweet, joy-filled, loving calling!

Pray:

Father God, thank You for loving us and filling us with Your love. Remind us of the love and joy You have given us to love and teach preschoolers. Lead us to generously share Your gospel, Your love, and Your delight with preschoolers and their families. Amen.
