This Month’s Spotlight Update: Oakwood Deaf Community Church

Oakwood Deaf Community Church (ODCC) is confidently following God’s call to share the gospel with the Deaf community in Cleveland, Ohio.

ODCC requests prayer for growing their church and meeting the needs of Deaf believers, many of whom have little or no background knowledge of the Bible. The church is facing several challenges, including needing its own building and more workers for ministry. Providing transportation is another hurdle, since some Deaf individuals can’t drive themselves to church, and bus services in the area aren’t available on Sundays.

Despite physical, emotional, financial, and spiritual obstacles, the church sees God’s plan through their struggles and follows the encouraging message of Hebrews 10:32–39. Verse 39 says, “But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.” ODCC lives out this courageous perseverance in pursuit of God’s will.

ODCC continues to mentor and disciple new believers. The church hosts game nights, sign language classes, and other monthly activities to encourage fellowship and outreach to the local community. Pray ODCC would continue relying on God as it overcomes struggles and shares the hope of Jesus with the Deaf community.
