Helping Others

Preschoolers take such delight in helping others. I wish we could capture that delight and keep it within them for all their lives. What a difference it would make in our world. What a difference it would make in their own lives if the attitudes of kindness and empathy for others were to continue through middle childhood into their teenage years and on into adulthood.

Preschoolers enjoy making pictures and cards for sick friends.

I have been looking through some of the photos that Mission Friends leaders have sent to WMU over the years. Many of the photos are of Mission Friends involved in Helping Others activities. The smiles on the preschoolers’ faces show such joy! You can tell that they are so proud of themselves, and it really makes them happy to show kindness and care to others.

Thank you to all the Mission Friends leaders who involve your preschoolers in Helping Others activities. Sometimes you use the suggestions in Mission Friends Leader, and sometimes you involve preschoolers in ministries unique to your community. You are giving preschoolers experiences in showing compassion to others. Even in the simple things preschoolers can do to help others, you are helping them to become kindhearted. In this “me-centered” world, you help preschoolers to see the needs of others and to take delight in helping others with needs. That is something to smile about.
