Preschool Leader’s Personal Involvement and Handling the Issue with Preschoolers
Preschool Leader’s Personal Involvement
Human exploitation is defined as the unethical, selfish use of human beings for the satisfaction of personal desires and/or profitable advantage. For Project HELPSM this encompasses issues such as human trafficking (sex and labor); harassment (including bullying, cyberbullying, sexting); and pornography.
Human exploitation can be an overwhelming issue. Take small steps to become informed and involved in this issue by doing the following.
Study the Scripture passages for this emphasis: Isaiah 61:1–2; Psalm 82:3–4; Proverbs 31:8–9.
Contact your state WMU office for resources, contacts, and projects in which you may become involved.
Research your state government laws on human trafficking, forced labor, etc.
Locate groups, people in your church, or other churches with whom you can partner.
Visit www.wmu.com for information about human exploitation, the Set1Free Campaign through WorldCraftsSM, and the Beginning of Life project in Moldova.
Read the LifeMatters feature in Missions Mosaic throughout this year.
Become involved through prayer as God places the needs of people on your heart.
Be sensitive to God’s call for you to become involved in this issue as He places particular needs on your heart.
Handling the Issue with Preschoolers
How do you handle the issue of human exploitation with preschoolers? Many of the topics involved in this issue are not appropriate for preschoolers. These tips will help you in dealing with the issue of human exploitation with preschoolers.
Avoid discussing inappropriate issues with preschoolers. Many of the issues are either beyond a preschooler’s understanding or are too disturbing in nature for discussion with preschoolers.
Teach preschoolers the biblical concepts that God made all people and God wants us to be kind to others.
Use Bible thoughts to teach preschoolers how God wants us to treat other people.
Involve preschoolers in helping persons who are at risk of exploitation.
Preschool leaders do not need to talk about the exploitation that could happen in these situations, but rather talk about how we are helping others in need.
