I don’t like receiving complaints!
I really don’t.
Having been involved in church work and ministry most of my life, I’ve heard my fair share.
Truthfully, some of the complaints directed at me were justified. I made a mistake and someone pointed it out to me. Point well taken.
The entire process of starting a new organization can be a daunting one. Whether it is a new business, social organization, or a book club, finding a place to begin can prove interesting. Over the years, I have watched new churches, businesses, and non-profit organizations begin and thrive when the right leadership team was put in place. I have also watched new organizations not do so well when leadership wasn’t a strong as it could have been.
How wonderful it is to tell you that I’m a grandmother (Rho Rho) again. My precious new grandson (our first boy) arrived late July, weighing in at 8 pounds and 6 ounces. Whenever I see a newborn, I stand amazed at those tiny little creatures. Such masterpieces they are!
I voted a resounding “NO!” when the kids wanted to bring home a turtle. I’m tired of short-term pets and the trauma they leave behind when they go on to glory.
The boys, determined that it was time for another “inside” pet, continued to beg, cajole, and just downright plead for this little-bitty turtle. I gave in on one condition. I got to name the little guy. Smurtle has now been part of our family for a whopping three months!
August is here! And along with the heat and back-to-school sales, it also brings a wonderful tradition: Christmas in August®. The first Christmas in August was a project of the Sunbeam Band of the First Baptist Church of Charlottesville, Virginia, in 1927. Since then, churches from all over have been providing missionaries with much-needed supplies and gifts.
