Any time a person steps out of their comfort zone, it is uncomfortable. It is easy and normal to be nervous and afraid. Before your church can step out to minister to those in poverty, it is important that you cast the vision. Church members need to be reminded of the biblical calling to minister to those in poverty. They need to be reminded that we are the hands and feet of Christ in our community. Stepping out is not an option. It is obedience.
There are many ways to cast the vision, one being a worship service where church leadership communicates the importance of this ministry. Work with your pastor and church leadership to create a worship experience that educates and casts the vision.
If Sunday, February 18, 2007, does not fit into your church calendar, select a date that is more appropriate.
