March 2019 Ideas

March: Annie Armstrong Game

Play a game to review what children have learned about Annie Armstrong or to help them think of ways to save money to give to the offering.

This game is played like “Marco, Polo.”

  1. Choose one child to be “It.” Blindfold him or her, and place the child in the center of the room.
  2. The other children should spread out in the room. Once they have chosen a spot, they cannot move their feet. Children can duck, bend at the waist, and squat.
  3. The child who is “It” must shout Annie. The other children should answer Armstrong.
  4. The child who is “It” should move in the direction of the voices.
  5. The game will continue in this manner until the boy who is “It” has tagged one of the children.
  6. The child who was tagged should share one thing he or she has learned about Annie Armstrong or one way he or she can save money to give to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering. Then, the child will become “It” in the next round.

March: Josh’s Journey

Refer to p. 24 of the Mar • Apr • May • 2019 issue of GA Leader and RA Leader.

Josh Carter decided to follow Christ when he was a boy. He learned about Jesus at a small, country church where his grandfather was the pastor. But this was only the beginning of his journey with God.

In college, Josh became active in different ministries. He even started a church with his wife, Amy, when he was only 21 years old. Starting the church was hard. Josh was young and didn’t know how to lead. But that was all part of his journey.

Then, a church in Tennessee called Josh to serve on the church staff. Josh worked with youth and families. He enjoyed his work.

One day while having his quiet time with God, Josh read a special verse. “My only goal is to finish the race. I want to complete the work the Lord Jesus has given me. He wants me to tell others about the good news of God’s grace.”  (Acts 20:24b NIrV).Josh started thinking about going to a place where most people do not know Christ.

But God had to speak to Josh in many ways before he finally said yes. God spoke to Josh and Amy through His Word, through Christian friends in the church, and through prayer.

Josh and Amy began to look at the great need for Christ on the West Coast. God placed a desire in Josh and Amy’s heart to go to Oregon. And God made it happen!

Today, Josh and Amy are missionaries in Portland, Oregon. They enjoy the work God has called them to do. Josh can’t wait to see where his journey with God in Portland will lead. The journey has just begun!
