Missionary Spotlight Update: Ken and Kathy Woods

If you were to ask Ken Woods what he believes is the most important aspect of keeping one’s faith strong on the missions field, he would have one answer for you—stay connected to God through His Word.

“The Bible is the Word of God and the way He has chosen to reveal Himself to the world,” Woods says. “It is God’s Word and the power of the Holy Spirit [that] provides the truths to convict a person of their sins.”

Oftentimes believers who do the sending rather than the going make the mistake of believing that the ones going are somehow above spiritual struggles. The image of the super-Christian comes to mind, and we tend to assume missionaries don’t have to work as hard as everyone else to keep their faith strong. But Woods disagrees.

“The Bible is my standard and is the means to which I strive to live my life,” he says. “God continues to show me things afresh in His Word. It never ceases to amaze me that God will show me something new in a passage I may have read so many times before, but He will open my eyes to it in a different way.”

Pray for him; his wife, Kathy; and their 2 children as they serve in Australia. Ask God to give them strength to do the tasks to which He has called them and continue to speak to them and strengthen them through His Word.

Ken and Kathy Woods are featured in the September 2019 Missions Mosaic Missionary Spotlight article.
