Igniting Faith, Community, and Mission in Illinois

“Our vision is to see the community radically transformed by the love of Jesus Christ, and our mission is to ignite faith, community, and mission in the hearts of broken people like us,” said Levi Hart, lead pastor of Ignite Church, in Breese, Illinois. “We strive to be a church that is stumbling forward—we freely acknowledge to God and each other our struggles and trust in the gospel to move forward.”

Teaching by example is an important part of the ministry of this 3-year-old church plant in the St. Louis metropolitan area. “Besides Sunday mornings and small groups, our church functions with a one-on-one discipleship model,” Levi said. “Our discipleship director and I have come up with a biblical discipleship plan, and he (with the help of our women’s discipleship director) is in charge of making sure each one of our covenant members and serious journeyers are being discipled and trained to be able to disciple others.”

Levi is currently discipling 6 men in the church: 2 pastors, 2 pastoral candidates, a church member, and a new believer who is exploring membership. And he is being discipled by the director of the biblical counseling ministry that the church uses. “I have found it largely beneficial, first living this out myself, experiencing the benefits from it, and casting the vision of discipleship through the Scriptures and personal experience,” Levi said.

Levi shared several prayer requests:

  • Pray the Lord would help him remain faithful as a Christ follower and in his roles as husband, father, and pastor.
  • Pray his family would see Christ in him, know God’s love, and desire to honor Him in their lives.
  • Pray for Ignite Church, asking the Lord to send more laborers to the harvest.
